Wiredepth vs Internet.nl
Looking for a Internet.nl alternative?
Internet.nl is the gold-standard one-shot scanner for "is this domain following best practice?" Wiredepth answers a different question: "is the answer still yes a month from now?" We use Internet.nl-style scoring as a baseline; we add continuous monitoring, alerts, a dashboard, AI remediation, and integration into your team's tools - things internet.nl deliberately does not provide because it is a public reference, not a SaaS.
Choose Internet.nl if
You want a free, independent, government-backed reference score for a domain - run it once, screenshot the result, file it in your audit folder. Especially if you are in the EU and need a recognised public-sector benchmark.
Choose Wiredepth if
You've already run Internet.nl, you got 100% (or close), and now you want to know the moment that score regresses - because someone changed DNS, a certificate is about to expire, or a new subdomain showed up that nobody told you about.

Where the dot is bigger means clearer edge. Empty = parity or depends on the customer.

Where Internet.nl wins
- It's genuinely free and always will be - no signup, no rate limit per visitor for casual use.
- Government / non-commercial backing carries weight in EU procurement and policy contexts.
- IPv6 readiness scoring is a first-class criterion - we cover it less prominently.
- Public reference methodology with academic-style rigour. The score is auditable and comparable across years.
- Used as a benchmark by the Dutch government and many EU public-sector orgs.
Where Wiredepth wins
- Continuous monitoring. Internet.nl is one-shot; if your DMARC policy weakens next Tuesday, no alert fires.
- Multi-domain dashboard. Internet.nl tests one domain at a time.
- Alerts to Slack / Teams / Discord on regression - the operational hook engineering teams actually want.
- Subdomain drift detection via CT logs - new subdomains appear without you knowing; we surface them.
- Threat-intel layers Internet.nl never claimed to ship, all anchored on your monitored apex: leak-site mentions of your domain, credentials at your domain in breach corpora, CVE triage on the tech serving your domain, brand-watchlist + phishing-kit fingerprinting, vendor supply-chain monitoring.
- Wiredepth Extension - separate priced SKU ($15-549/mo with a free trial tier). Inline DMARC / age / malware / threats pills on every email plus a one-click Scam Check AI verdict; phishing-feed + brand-impersonation pills on paid Extension. Internet.nl is a posture-grading website with no inbox surface. Plus enterprise managed-storage deploy so IT can push the extension to a fleet via Chrome policy.
- AI-assisted remediation - findings come with executable fix steps.
- Compliance PDF reports mapped to SOC 2 / ISO 27001 / NIST CSF / PCI-DSS / HIPAA controls.
- Free tools at /tls-check etc. give you the same one-shot scoring without leaving Wiredepth, plus the upgrade path when you want monitoring. Includes a visual infrastructure-map (NS / MX / SPF / DKIM graph) Internet.nl doesn't produce.
FAQ
Should I use both Internet.nl and Wiredepth?
Yes, that's a reasonable workflow. Use Internet.nl as the public, government-backed score you cite externally (audit reports, vendor questionnaires). Use Wiredepth to monitor that score continuously and alert you the moment something regresses internally.
Does Wiredepth match Internet.nl's scoring methodology?
Not exactly - we score per-tool with our own A-F grades calibrated to common compliance frameworks, not the Internet.nl 100% scale. The findings are largely the same (TLS config, DMARC posture, DNSSEC, etc.) but the presentation differs.
Why pay if Internet.nl is free?
You don't pay for the score - you pay for the monitor. Internet.nl tells you "your score today is 96%". Wiredepth tells you "your score dropped to 84% at 3:47am because somebody pushed a Caddy config that disabled HSTS." Different jobs.
Is this an "EU vs US" thing?
Wiredepth runs in AWS us-east-2 (Ohio). EU customers can still use the product; we are not a "data must reside in NL" alternative - we are a "I want this monitored continuously" alternative. If EU data residency is a hard requirement, that's on our roadmap and we are happy to commit to it as part of an Enterprise contract.
Try it on a domain you actually own
No signup. 20+ free tools work on any domain. If the experience clicks, Starter is $30/month for 5 domains (posture only) and Pro is $79/month for 10 domains with the full threat-intel layer.
